It is imperative that computers are kept up on the latest software updates for operating systems and applications. In the past this was left up to each PC requesting the updates and applying them. This method was sporadically effective at best. Now all updates can be managed centrally, which has several advantages. Instead of consuming internet time and bandwidth with several PC’s downloading the same information, the Software Management System downloads the information one time. Secondly, these changes can be reviewed and tested before releasing them to the whole organization. This assures that any patches will not negatively affect any applications within the organization. Finally, once as updates have been approved for release, the Software Management System will ensure that systems are properly patched. It also allows for these patches to be applied on off hours which can minimize computer downtime in the organization. |
